Product Owner

Job description

The Product Owner is part of the Projects department. The Product Owner serves as the primary voice of the customer within the development process, ensuring that the delivered solutions align with business needs, priorities and strategic goals. The Product Owner is responsible for managing the product backlog with the customer, defining and prioritizing features, and working closely with stakeholders and development teams to maximize product value and speed to value. The Product Owner balances customers 'as is' wishes with value potential in 'to be' solutions.

Key responsibilities

The essence of the role of a Product Owner, is to “own the product”. You are the actor that gradually understands the whole product, guides customer and team to make valuable items and make sure the customer gets value for money as fast as realistically possible. In bullet points:

  • Define and communicate the product vision, goals, and roadmap in alignment with stakeholder and business strategy, balancing as is and to be logic
  • Manage and prioritize the product backlog based on business value, customer needs, and technical feasibility.
  • Write clear and concise user stories and acceptance criteria to guide development teams and solicit customer precision and understanding. Be a good communicator to drive a dialogue to achieve clarity and commitment to customer- and team members.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather feedback, validate requirements, and ensure alignment of deliverables.
  •  Work closely with developers, testers, and project managers to ensure product features are delivered on time and meet quality standards, guard value for money.
  • Lead sprint planning from a content perspective, backlog refinement, and review sessions.
  • Facilitate product demos, stakeholder feedback sessions, and User Acceptance Testing.
  • Analyze product performance and user feedback to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Balance stakeholder requests with the overall product strategy and technical constraints.
  • Act as the main decision-facilitator for product features and priorities, the sole voice of the customer to the rest of the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong understanding of client portal platforms, ideally in the trust business.
  • Proven experience in product ownership or product management, including gathering requirements, prioritizing features, and managing product roadmaps.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including developers, UX designers, and business stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to support customers and teams across multiple time zones.
  • Preferably based in the Dutch Caribbean (GMT-4 timezone).
